My first cousin and great GAA man, John Corcoran, has died suddenly today and he will be very sadly missed by everybody that came to know him. John and his truly genuine family just buried their mother Eileen very recently and this is a massive blow to them all.

John was about the sharpest witted guy you could ever come across and huge intelligence to go with it. He was never afraid to speak his mind but had a heart of gold and was a great family person and is gone to join his mother now after her sad passing too.

John was a selector with the Cork senior football team under Billy Morgan between 2004 and 2007 and held several  board positions at official level. He was respected by everybody whether they agreed with him or not.

Many a slagging joust we had over the merits of Cork and Waterford hurling usually accompanied by pints of guinness and it is impossible to believe John has departed the pitch.

Gerard, Margaret and Kevin and all the family, our thoughts are with you.

RIP John.
