Minus 5 yesterday and it was such a brutal day, Arctic Fire would have done us lovely and would have won but that’s racing. I think I have a proper nap today.

1 40 : I feel one of our purchases ,Nexius, will run creditably at a price but DANEKING might be the one in a vicious contest. He signalled a return to form at Cheltenham and the big field on a tighter track and good ground might get him to put his best foot forward. He is well handicapped. 1 pt win at 12/1 PP.

2 15 : GLINGERBURN looks very classy and cannot be opposed. 2 pts win at 7/4 PP.

2 50 : Will SAPHIR DU RHEU jump a clear round over these very difficult upright black fences , that is the question ? If he does he wins. 2 pts win at 6/4 PP.

3 25 : What a belter of a contest, as good as any Grade 1 this NH season. I hope they take a lead with CHAMPAGNE FEVER and that he can return to his best even though the vibes are negative. 1 pt win at a drifting 7/2 PP

4 05 : This looks a hugely competitive Topham and will not make easy watching for the squeamish. I fear they will go off way too fast and am worried there might be casualties , I pray not. The fences are now too small and therefore the jockeys are going faster and the inevitable will then happen. In a needle in the haystack job I am going a 1/2 pt each way on RATHLIN at 20/1 PP. He might just come alive over these fences on good ground.

4 40 : My nap of the meeting runs in this and it is a horse I have put up several times here on this site and how he has proved us right , ROI DES FRANCS. I believe he will go to the top over fences and this step up to Grade 1 company over hurdles is a logical step on what will probably be his last run over the smaller obstacles. The experience gained in Cheltenham jumping at speed where he ran a terrific race will have taught him a huge amount and this step up in trip is what he craves. He has a very high cruising gear but doesn’t quicken off it but if he is off the bridle in this at any stage it means they are going too fast. I will be devastated if he loses and rate him a rattling good bet. 3 pts win at 6/1 PP.

5 15 : I think the bumper horses are slightly below standard this year so far but that might change yet and there are two unexposed fancied horses here that might prove above average, Persian Delight and BRAIN POWER. The latter might come out on top in another wide open contest. 1 pt win BRAIN POWER at 15/2 PP.
