SATURDAY 5TH OCT. PLANTEUR & VALIDUS.

Very sad to see the brilliant Novellist out of the Arc. The race is robbed now of the big threat to Orfevre and it is starting to look like a penalty kick for the Japanese champion. I was very unsure about the chance of Treve even before her poor gate position so it looks a case of avoiding traffic now for the favourite. As it turned out Novellist would have hated the prospect of soft ground as he just cannot handle it so that temperature might be a blessing in disguise for this wonderful German hero. There are plenty of opportunities left as the International Group One season only really begins now and he will also have his favoured fast ground no matter which departure gate he goes from when the time comes.

Ascot 2 40. I am hopeful SECRET NUMBER can show a little improvement to bag this. 1 pt win at general 4/1, Bet 365 etc.

Newmarket 2 20. ENSURING looked like a good horse when winning his maiden at Sandown, moving with purpose throughout. He is big at a freely available 14/1. It is a case of whether he can lie up with them and if he does he will be coming home strong. 1 pt win.

Newmarket 2 55. My nap, VALIDUS goes here. He has had excuses on several occasions but none will be accepted by me if he does not put these rivals to the sword. Get on with it and win. Miles clear on my ratings. 2 pts win at 7/2 with Bet 365 and more.

Gowran 4 40. BAILEY GREEN might be value for an upset, very progressive last year and any normal improvement will mean he will be bang there. 1 pt win at 8/1 BetVictor.

Longchamp. 3 15. Everything is spot on for PLANTEUR. Surely. 1 pt win at 5/1 PP.
