THE FLAT IS BACK , OR IS IT ? TERRIBLE WEATHER. INSPECTIONS, ABANDONMENTS.
The headline says it all .Almost every meeting over the next few days is subject to an inspection and there are already 3 abandonments. Spring how are you !!
We will pretend Doncaster goes ahead and what an exciting time if you are a flat enthusiast like me. Eight months of mouth watering action awaits us. We have a nice card to kick us off and a lovely 3 y old handicap over 1mile 2 f which really sets the pulse racing. Let’s have a look at that.
Doncaster 2 00. Ronaldinho ,by sire of the moment ,Jeremy, and trained by the all conquering Hannon team is top weight and joint favourite, He is already a 3 time winner and on soft so he deserves his rating and position in the market . He should stay but I am not so sure.
The only other real contender in this small field in my opinion is the Markk Johnston trained MISTER IMPATIENCE. He was not much to look at last year, small, narrow and plain. Some of this coul.d be explained by the fact that he was a late foal [ born May 3rd]. I hope he has developed over the winter and if so then he will take the world of beating. His sire, Hernando is a huge influence for stamina and soft ground performers and that is what will be needed today. MISTER dotted up on his third and final run last Autumn at Nottingham on the stamina sapping heavy ground and the step up in trip today is ideal. In receipt of a big 7 pounds from what I consider his danger then surely a bold front running ride from the excellent Joe Fanning should see us collect on our first flat bet of the turf season.
2 points win MISTER IMPATIENCE [nap] at 9/4 with Paddy.
